Games consoles are often the topic of conversation nowadays with many people having different opinions. The main contenders at the moment are Nintendo, Xbox and PlayStation. Both PlayStation and Xbox are on the verge of bringing their newest console, and they each claim their consoles are the greatest of all time. The debate we all have though is which console is the best of all time. This could be dating back to the Commodore 64 or the current consoles on the market. Through the years, certain gaming companies have tried to change the boundaries mainly being Nintendo with the release of the Wii. Nintendo tried to change the way of gaming by trying to make it a more realistic way of gaming. But did it work?
Graphics
In terms of graphics, I think it’s hard to look past the current Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Both have killer graphics and it would be hard to improve on these. It’s hard to believe that graphics could be this good, when you used to be playing Mario on Sega Megadrive with your teenage spots!
Gameplay
The industry had to do something to reach out to a larger audience, and the release of the Nintendo Wii did just that. It had gaming virgins desperate to try this new console out. It isn’t your average console where you sit on the sofa staring at a TV; it has you active on your feet playing whilst involving the whole family; even Granddad!
Fanbase
In terms of fanbase, the Xbox 360 is running away with the title of most popular. Kids and teenagers everywhere decided it was the must have console meaning that the sales figures soared through the roof! Facts and statistics don’t lie!
Features
In my opinion, the PlayStation is holding the title for having the best features. The PlayStation not only is also a blu ray player, but the controllers are also rechargeable by USB. This is not only is a money saver with the inclusion of the blu ray; it is also convenient!
Groundbreaking
I think the award for the company who really made a change to gaming, has to go to Nintendo for the innovative design and creation of the Wii. Fellow companies can build on this model and try to create something even better.
In conclusion, I feel the Xbox has too many great features for anything to compete with it. Yes, as touched on, the Nintendo Wii has reached out to a bigger audience but I don’t feel that they have everything right with it just yet! I feel it’s something that’s going to be improved upon and will soon be a force to be reckoned! People still want to be a part of the Xbox community and for that reason it is the winner. The console itself can be very expensive, so I understand why people turn to sites such as www.free-games.net to get their action fix!
